To be able to access the bookings below, you will need a membership code. This will be provided upon request to full members who have a relevant qualification (BSUPA Ready to Ride, PaddleUK/British Canoeing Paddle Start etc) or have been signed off as a competent paddler by Heidi, AJ or Barry.

Mega Stand Up Paddle Boards (SUP)

To book a MEGA (group) paddle board. Please use the booking system below. You will need to book a board (which includes 1 paddler) and then up to 9 additional paddlers, the minimum number of total paddlers is 4. Please make sure to book the additional paddlers with the same code as the board (G1 paddlers for G1 board, G2 for G2).

Please do not book just additional paddlers if the board is booked already, you will not be able to borrow the board as it has already been booked.

You will need to complete the details for each person paddling and they must be a full club member or the booking is invalid.

Correct Booking example

In the example, this booking is for 4 paddlers. The G1 Mega SUP has been booked which includes 1 paddler, then 3 additional paddlers have been selected for the G1 Mega SUP.

Incorrect Booking Example

In the example, the Mega SUP G1 is already booked out, so the person booking 3 paddlers will have no board to use.

The only time where you may want to book additional paddlers with no board is if a friend has booked the board for themselves and invites you to join them, this way you can provide your paddler details and they do not need to do it for you. Make sure you book the additional paddlers for the correct board G1 or G2.

FAQs

  • This is a requirement of our insurance.

Full member includes Adult, Senior, Family, Intermediate, Student, Cadet and Overseas.

  • As the mega SUP is a multi-person board, the risk of entanglement would be very high with lots of leashes being worn.

  • PFD stands for personal floatation device. This may be a standard style buoyancy aid or a waist warn inflating belt like a life jacket (though usually not rated as life jackets).

Peoples preference of the specific type of PFD they use varies and so we stipulate PFD rather than buoyancy aid.

  • PFD’s are recommended by all governing bodies. You may become separated from the board and so the PFD provides you with floatation.

  • No, you will need to bring your own PFD when you borrow a club board.

  • We are now a BSUPA recognised school. With this in mind, it is now easy and relatively cheap (currently £37) for members to get training through the club. This allows us to make sure members using the boards have the basic skills to do so. If you already hold a relevant qualification, we can approve your access without a training course once we have seen documentation.

Competent paddlers who have not attended a formal course can be assessed by Heidi, AJ or Barry without the need for a training course, though we would still recommend attending one of the clubs courses as you will then have the qualification going forward.
